This commit fixes the following bugs:
- A guy in Celadon University was stuck in a tree due to being placed on the wrong tile.
- It was possible to walk out of bounds in Mt. Moon Crater due to buggy collision near the bottom of the map
- Hi Jump Kick had a slightly glitched animation
- It was possible to walk into a specific rock in both Cerulean Cave and Garnet Cavern. This was a vanilla bug too, but I'm fixing it proper now.
- There was no signpost outside Bill's Lighthouse where there should've been.
- Fixed two errors in the README
- The Fissure TM was not purchasable at the Citrine Rocket house
- Even if you had picked one of the original starters, you could still get the Charmander and Squirtle gifts as the NPCs would show up regardless.
- Trying to get the Squirtle gift with a full party and box would lock you out from getting it
- Fixed a text issue in Celadon Uni where the professor states the wrong TM
- Fixed two text issues in Silph Co
Please stop asking me about the sprite limit i beg u
Ok so this commit does the following;
- Oak's Lab now uses the Fossil Lab tileset, featuring lots of new contraptions etc to make up for the old removed aides.
- Places the Pikachu and Eevee starters in a new place, which results in a slightly blocky mess, but does the job.
- Fossil Lab tileset graphic has many new things. Lots of bad tiles in the blockset in case we want to use this more.
- Changes the rival's pathing so he, y'know, works on the new map...
- Re-adds the Oak email thing, but I had to do like 4 stupid workarounds because it was broken for unknown reasons. Just made it a generic bg event with no issues.
- Removed the old oak email event; no visible difference.
- Adds Officer Jenny from Yellow to Vermilion City. Due to spriteset restrictions, Roingus Girl has been removed; the self-insert felt a little weird anyway.
- Fuchsia City's map has been redone a little bit to more closely resemble the LGPE version, being far more walkable and aesthetically appealing.
- A Firefighter has been added to Cerulean Gym!
This adds Damien, the Charmander trainer, with text changed to be more accurate to his character.
I've also moved the Pewter Rod House nearby, as it makes more sense for it to be in the Water-type area. However, it seems to load oddly.
I have also integrated the Pikachu/Eevee Mode more, with architecture that it can make it more easily modified. This'll come into play for the Squirtle event.
I have also erased further misinformation the game gives about burns, and changed the Viridian Pre-Gym accordingly, to talk about confusion, which lacks a Trainer Tips sign.
So this isn't working very well. It's halfway there and worked exactly once with what I can only describe as a cosmic ray event.
Here's how it's intended to work: Right as you open the Card Key door, Omega comes barging through, having previously been fighting with Giovanni.
The walking and stuff seems to work, but there are three issues:
- Omega's battle doesn't start, causing a softlock. `call TalkToTrainer` seems to be the iffy point. Note that this code is usually used when talking to a static entity.
- The music bugs out as Omega walks over; this may be linked to the above problem.
- Once these issues are alleviated, Omega will have to disappear, but this isn't a massive deal.
Also includes a dev door in Red's room to easily access the event, and minor code cleanup with Viridian Pre-Gym and Oak's lab - just unnecessary comments.
Thanks to Frrf for helping me fix the broken code I initially sent in. This commit refines the mode so that the Oak Lab cutscene is finished and the party picking process is all concrete.
Also, given Surge is a fight, the S.S. Anne Pikachu rival can have Raichu, surely...
Also, the UnusedNames files were, in fact, needed...otherwise, the item names get all corrupted. Probably left some code behind.
So we officially have a new funky mode!
So some bits of this are untested, but the base starters are unaffected. I had to work a lot with the sprite limits so Oak's lab has been changed a bit.
This adds a Pikachu and Eevee "mode" to the game, allowing you to pick them as starters. When doing so, the Rival will always pick the opposite.
There are some glitches;
- Picking Charmander makes Blue erase himself from existence
- Picking from anywhere other than the front of the table may have odd results.
- Oak has to be shown in the lab at the start from now on for some reason; side effect of removing the dexes, there's definitely a fix for this.
These are from me not finishing the ball picking process - it was a little weird.
Parties based on starters have been updated but I had to cut out a lot of unused trainer slots.
Also the unused names were removed.
Rhyperior files are dummies and will need to be properly edited with sprites, Rhydon evo data, etc, but it (and the other files included) show that the trainer and pokemon sprite indexes have been separated, which allows us to add the other KEP mons
